Square Foot Gardening is a great way to grow your own vegetables, appealing to beginner and experienced gardeners alike!

Square foot gardening uses permanent beds, permanent paths, grid planting and trellises to maximize yields and minimize work (including weeding!). Just plant, water, and pick vegetables from your garden.

The result is a productive and colorful garden that is easy to scale up for a new gardener starting with one bed and adding new beds in the future.

Your instructor, Peter Burke of Calais, has been using square foot gardening since 1981 and works in Barre as a granite salesman at Cochran’s, Inc. His hobby is gardening and he has been teaching classes about indoor gardening and square-foot gardening since 2006.

Peter will describe and demonstrate the process he uses for planning, designing, prepping and planting his square foot gardens. Visit Peter’s website: thedailygarden.com.
