A Rising Star at the Center for an Agricultural Economy

Hardwick, Vermont – October 9, 2013 - Last week, Vermont Business Magazine released it’s list of Rising Stars, young professionals recognized for contributing to Vermont’s economy and community. The Center for an Agricultural Economy’s Board is thrilled to announce that Executive Director Sarah Waring has been named a Rising Star for 2013 and included on the impressive list of young notables who will be celebrated at an awards banquet on November 7 in South Burlington.

“It is an honor that I want to live up to,” said Waring. “The CAE team works really well together and it is the work of all of us which led to this.”

Previously, Sarah was the Farm & Wilderness Foundation Programs Director as well as Program Manager of the Council on the Future of Vermont  with the Vermont Council of Rural Development. As Executive Director of the CAE, she oversees a dynamic non-profit organization that owns and operates the Vermont Food Venture Center, a hybrid processing facility along with a host of healthy food access, outreach and education programs.

Says Tom Stearns, Chair of the CAE Board, “ We are proud of Sarah and it is great that an organization like Vermont Business Magazine recognizes it too.”

Since 2004, the CAE has encouraged the development of a local system that meets the needs and aspirations of the community and ensures economic and ecological stability and abundance. Through community involvement, integrated and responsible agri-business and a commitment to economic, ecologic and nutritional health, the Center for an Agricultural Economy supports a vibrant regional food system.
