Dear friends;

What better way to welcome Fall than celebrating programs, projects and people? The Center for an Agricultural Economy is hosting an Open House this Friday, from 4pm-7:30pm, and we’d love to see you there! Join us to learn more about our projects and about the VT Food Venture Center’s services and features.

Tours of the commercial kitchens will be available, and entrepreneurs who have started their food businesses at CAE or used its services will be on hand with samples and products for sale.  Among the small businesses are Vermont Kale Chips, Wood’s Edge Pesto, Tom Knows Salsa, Vermont Chevon (goat meat), Vermont Food Group veggie burgers, lemonade made of Sumptuous Syrups, and Switchel, a modernized old-fashioned farm energy drink.

Some of the projects we’re planning to show: a semi-automated filler and capper machine, which was made possible with WLEB funding and partnership with Vt Switchel, our Value-Added Vermont vegetable pilot project, with schools and institutions, and our Atkins Field community engagement and visioning project.  While there is no formal agenda for our Open House, staff will be available to describe activities and services for entrepreneurs at the Vermont Food Venture Center.
