Position: Office and Financial Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Summary of Position: The Center for an Agricultural Economy is looking for a full-time Office and Financial Manager, who will be a key team player in the mission and work of the Center. This person will be responsible for budgeting, financial planning, accounting and grant reporting/record keeping in a fast paced non-profit working in critical infrastructure and business arenas in the local food industry. The Office and Financial Manager will work in close collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance Committee of the Board, as well as the Facilities Manager, and Program Manager. Our ideal candidate is familiar with Quickbooks, and has worked in non-profit settings, as they will be part of the decision-making team which assists with information systems, efficient workflow systems, as well as communication and training with CAE staff and Board.  This position is full-time, 40hrs/wk. Specific Responsibilities: Budgeting and Financial Planning, Accounting, Reporting, Record Keeping and Compliance, Human Resources Management, and Assistance with Program Planning.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience with non-profit bookkeeping and management
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Pro accounting software
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • General knowledge of human resources and appropriate vendors
  • The office environment is in an industrial building, and this position may also include local travel to food pantry, schools, Atkins Field, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector

  • Technologically savvy in developing and implementing new processes and systems that increase efficiency in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, analyze statistical data and generate reports
  • Ability to deal with the public and staff in a friendly, pleasant and professional manner
  • Takes pride in accomplishing tasks thoroughly, accurately and quickly; ability to apply skills to be helpful to co-workers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a command of business English and spelling
  • A sense of humor, tact and diplomacy
