Lucas Battey, in his last year at the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier,  has joined us as an intern for the Vermont Food Venture Center.  He puts in some long hours, training with our staff about the ins and outs of food processing and client interaction.
We have fully enjoyed having him join our team and wanted to give our readers a chance to meet him too.

CAE: Tell us about yourself! Why did you decide to immerse yourself in the food world?
LB: Food is a common denominator. Everyone needs it and no one can go without. Food can be such a personal thing and I wanted to work in an industry where people cared about and were invested in what they were doing. Besides who doesn’t want to play with food for a living?
CAE: What is your dream meal?
LB: Indian food. Rich curries, chutneys, flatbreads and more.
CAE: If you could be any kind of vegetable, what would it be?
LB: Sweet potato. Boiled, baked, mashed or stewed… they’re good no matter what.
CAE: What has been the most interesting thing you’ve learned so far since being at the VFVC?
LB: Other than George teaching me how to fix the sink…? I think just working in a place where both employees and clients are fully invested and excited about the work that is being done and the products that are created is very rewarding.
Thanks Lucas!
