2013 Kingdom Farm & Food Days -August 17th, 18th

Come explore our region’s rich food and farm scene! A weekend long celebration of Vermont farms, local foods, gardens, small producers, and agricultural businesses makes up the 5th annual Kingdom Farm & Food Days on August 17th and 18th. Workshops, food and tours will be available to all attendees AND throughout the weekend, participating restaurants and businesses will be offering KFF specials in celebration. 

Saturday August 17th – 8am to 4pm, Caledonia and Orleans Counties, VT

Guided Tour - Join the CAE for a morning caravan tour and go behind the scenes at High Mowing Seeds, Highfields Center for Composting, the Vermont Food Venture Center and end the day at Pete’s Greens for a 1230pm tour and activities (see below). Participation cost is $15.00 and runs from 9am to 2pm with light refreshments provided. (New farms added!!) Open Farm Day -Personalize your tour route by selecting from the list of open farms organized by NOFA- VT and the CAE, including Sandiwood FarmTannery Farm & CashmeresFour Acre FarmAgape Hill FarmWalden Heights Nursery & Orchard, Wilder Farm, Highfields Center for Composting, and Echo Hill Farm. All participating farmers have generously opened their facilities from 8am to noon for KFF attendees; farm demos and activities vary from farm to farm. Pete’s Greens Open Farm Day - Ride in a tractor pulled hay wagon for a tour of the farm production fields at Pete’s Greens followed by a walking tour of the processing facility. Learn how the facility works and meets the needs of this four season CSA and wholesale farm.  Guided tours and light refreshments will be provided from 11am to 330pm. 

Sunday August 18th- Wolcott, VT – 11am to 6pm, followed by music and a bonfire.

  Join High Mowing Organic Seeds for tours of the HMS trials field led by HMS and Bejo representatives. Workshops for gardeners and growers include: seed saving, herbal gardening, and vegetable fermentation, gleaning with the Vermont Foodbank, a seed swap, children’s activities hosted by Lamoille Valley 4-H club. Join NECI for their farm to table showcase meal served in the field, prepared with HMS produce and food donations from area farms. Compare the flavors and textures of vegetable varieties at the tasting station and enjoy fresh fire-roasted corn on the cob. Boogie down with Granite Junction string band and network at the bonfire.
