The Center for an Agricultural Economy and the Vt Food Venture Center have been going through the fall with a number of programs and services up and running.

First, our Pies for People event, partnering with Sterling College, Hardwick Food Pantry and a large number of local volunteers produced over 120 pies, going out for Thanksgiving for schools, food pantry clients, senior centers and more!

Second, our kitchens have been bustling – with specialty food clients as well as farm products. Our three busiest months since opening in 2011 have happened in 2014! Vermont Switchel just celebrated the four-head filler equipment, funded through a Working Lands Grant with an evening soiree, where many of our oldest friends and partners came to celebrate. Help the Working Lands Initiativeto be sustained by sending a postcard to the Gov. today!

Third, a few staff changes to announce!  We are enhancing our business advising services as the year closes, by bringing on a Farm and Food Business Specialist, as well as working with VHCB’s Farm and Forest Viability Network with special consultants. We are also saying goodbye to Traci Lamarche, who has been our Financial Manager for the past number of years. She’s been a great teammate, a strong and consistent accounting and bookkeeper, and has helped us to build so many systems here at the VFVC/CAE. Thank YOU, Traci for all your hard work!z

And finally, check out our work with Vermont Community Foundations’ partnership and support.

We are on the lookout for our next Office and Finance Manager – learn more here!

And, as we head into the new year, we’ll be looking for a parttime Kitchen Crew Supervisor – here’s the description!

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and stay safe in our snow storm!
