The Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) and the Northeastern Vermont Development Association (NVDA) are seeking the services of a qualified Program Manager who can assist with the development and rollout of the updated Regional Food Systems Plan for the Northeast Kingdom.

This plan, which is the only sub-state Food Systems Plan in Vermont, is critically important to identify the gaps that exist, map the current infrastructure and distribution assets, and plan for the future growth and development of the agricultural economy. Created in 2011, the baseline understanding of our three county area is significantly different now, and we anticipate this important work will articulate both with our regional Comprehensive Economic Development plan and with Vermont’s Farm to Plate state-wide plan. Working primarily with the NVDA Senior Planner, this Program Manager will be responsible for identifying, interviewing and writing case studies for the final plan, as well as planning, outreach, implementation and follow up of a Northeast Kingdom-wide public event in the spring.

Description: We anticipate that this Program Manager will be working on case studies and on our region-wide event simultaneously and will spend time primarily in the winter and spring of 2016, prior to the publication timeline of the Regional Food System Plan update. The Program Manager should be familiar with the local food system initiatives within Vermont, with the state-wide Farm to Plate Network, and should have experience in both planning and event management. In addition, the ideal candidate would have a familiarity with the Northeast Kingdom, and an interest in learning about the process of food system plans and their efficiacy.
